Our Story

About Us

Shivasya Dhol Tasha Pathak of Carolinas began in 2013. A small group of families in Charlotte started it. They shared a love of Maharashtrian percussion. They wanted to pass it on to the next generation. What began with about eight members is now an 80+ member crew.

Our mission goes beyond music. We serve the community through humanitarian, social, and charitable work. We also preserve and promote the heritage of dhol, tasha, and lezim. We inspire children and young adults to embrace their roots. And we build a lifelong commitment to service and community.

Shivasya is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit, so contributions are tax-deductible.

Who We Are

There's a place for everyone in the pathak. No experience is needed. All ages are welcome, men and women alike.

How it started

The group was founded in 2013 by Pramod Holé along with Shantanu Wadodkar, Kedar Hinge, Dajiba Patil, Sachin Varule, and Poonam Kulkarni. Nitu Patil led the Lezim activity. Many have shaped Shivasya since. Among them are Pratapsinh Patil, Supriya Bhor, Mahesh Bhor, and Jeet Hiremath.

Today the crew is 80+ strong and still growing. We practice twice a week, on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Practice runs from 7:00 to 8:30 PM, May through October. We meet at the Hindu Center of Charlotte.
